NYCFHC Men Wrap Season as Playoff Runners-Up

So close but yet so far!! The NYCFHC Men almost secured being three-peat Playoff Champions of the NEFHA Mens League, but fell just short losing to Rye/Westchester in a pulsating Playoff final.

On what has become a standard blazingly hot June Playoff day, our NYCFHC lads lived up to their reputation of showing up when it counts. First up they dispatched a strong Islanders team 3-2 in the semi-final, a result that never really looked in doubt despite the tight scoreline. But with only one game off recovery, our troopers were straight back on the pitch facing a well rested Rye/Westchester, who had done a number on the League winners Greenwich 1s in the first semi-final of the day.

The Blue Tide fought valiantly against a team well stocked with European club stars and former Internationals. Rye/Westchester took a fragile 1:0 lead and for the majority of the game the teams fought it out with little between them. Fatigue did eventually catch up with our Blue Brigade and Rye/Westchester took lethal advantage, netting two late on securing a 3:0 win and a scoreline that didn't reflect the closeness of the match.

Although disappointed not being able to nail back-to-back-to-back Playoff Championships, it was a great showing by our Blue Tide Boys. Another hugely enjoyable Playoff Day of matches and socials that ran late into the evening.

....and now the motivation is there to win back our Playoff Championship crown next season!

Let's go Blue Tide!
